Dear Supporters, Readers, and friends:
Dear American Lebanese
Dear Lebanese Americans
Dear young adults and first-time-voters
The new Lebanon is counting on you..... VOTE in the 2013 General Elections in Lebanon and you will have the power of change as your votes are equal or more than the residing Lebanese.
I heard complaints from many Lebanese saying:
'Lebanon is not worth my vote' , 'I don't give a damn on what's going on over there' 'Lebanon is not a democracy' 'I am an American now and care less about Lebanon' 'Lebanon is gone!'
'They are all a bunch of thieves', 'Lebanon is corrupted', 'Lebanon is not for the Christians any more', 'Lebanon is govern by tribes', 'Nothing will change even if I vote', 'The whole Middle East is messed-up', 'Israel wants to destroy Lebanon', 'Lebanese can not govern themselves they have to be occupied', 'I'm not going back', 'I have gave up my Lebanese nationality'
I'm sure you have heard these HARSH comments and even worst.
I am not a Psychologist nor a Psychiatrist but know that people who make such comments do it because of their love to their native country where they grew up and were raised and because of cruel circumstances out of the Lebanese hands they had to leave or flee their country so they now hold grutch against the reasons and people who caused it and the circumstances in which these sad situtaions happened and wish this have never happened to them. So they express their feelings and anger by venting and dashing the country and all politician (regardless) for not being able to contain the causes and allowing it to destroy peoples lives, futures and definitely the country.
I did not live the war, I left in 1973 because I knew what was coming and tried to warn the party I belonged to but in vain.
I held a high position in the PNL (partie nationale leberale belonging to president Camille Chamoun).
Yes I left... and in 1975 I attempted a come-back but was greeted with a fierce beginning of the civil war and knew then that this is going to go way far beyond the control of the Lebanese people and government because it was a foreign conspiracy by Israel and its allies to pre-empt Lebanon from the Christians and prepare for the repatriation of the palestinians in Lebanon and proclaim Lebanon a Palestinian homeland with the support of the Arab Radical-Muslim countries and the USA. Actually there were thousands of tents and mobile homes set in California to receive the forced-out Lebanese Christians (The Henry Kissinger plan). (read) (more on Kissinger)
Did I give up on my dear Lebanon? NO........... what happened made me even more of a firm believer that Lebanon will survive and come out of this war triumphant and we wil survive. And I was shocked. The war ended in 1990 with the Taif accord surrendering Lebanon to the Syrian Assad (father) regime.
Did I give up no? I stayed an activist and a spokesperson for Free Lebanon.
Many things happened from 1990 to 2005. The neutralization of the two main Christian Maronite leaders (General Michel Aoun in exile and Samir Geagea in prison) president Hrawi and Hariri government and president Emile Lahoud and Hariri government had an iron grip along with the Syrians on Lebanon's politics and the economy. Rebuilding Lebanon's infrastructure cost 10 times what should have been due the theft, embezzlemen, and money manipulation and corruption which currently has reached ove 50 billion dollars for the national debt.
Did I give up? NO.... I stayed focus and working hard within the community promoting a great future for Lebanon which I believe now, and with this new government there is a chance to turn things arround if they are not sabotaged by external and foreign countires. from 1990 - 2010 it was all judicial, political, economical corruption, I say give this new government at least 5% of the time previous given to past governements and give them a chance to prove what they can do. Don't you think?
My message to all the people who made those cruel remarks on Lebanon is to re-think their position. America is great to all of us and did give us opportinities when our own country Lebanon was unable to do so and we love America for that but does this mean we forget our heritage and roots? one Americal-Lebanese priest once said: 'Where there is prosperity we lose our heritage'
I ask you all whose faullt is it if you have the chance to change things but you chose to stay on the sidelines and then all you can do is cuss and complain.
If you do not get involved and make the difference you should not complain nor curse your own country. You have the chance to make radical changes in the 2013 upcoming elections. Are you going to be an observer or a participant.
Have you seen the car stickers that say: 'Don't blame me I did not vote for Bush' I ask those people 'Did you vote?'
Through this website you will have two years to familiarize yourself with Lebanese politics and who are the effective guys and what is the new governemnt doing to help the people and what will be their major achievements. Assess the government success or failure.
I urge you to click on every TAB and go through reading the information and make up your own decisions and do not be influenced by a neighbor or radical thinkers who has one mission in life which is to destroy our beloved Lebanon.
God Bless you all ................. HEY: Take all the poles and participate in the BLOG.. let me and all of us hear from you and share your opinions and feelings with us.
